Plans submitted for new caravan park

Caravan insurance customers could soon find a new site open to them near a popular country park in County Durham, if plans are given the go-ahead.

Proposals for the site, near Hardwick Park, included over 300 static caravan pitches and 48 lodges, according to the Northern Echo.

However, the application hit controversy after a year-long protest campaign, with objection from the Sedgefield Village Residents' Forum and the Town Council.

The plans were ultimately rejected by Sedgefield Borough Council over concerns that they would spoil the countryside, but revised proposals have now been submitted.

Under the new scheme, the lodges will no longer be included, although 330 caravan pitches are proposed.

Should the application be given the green light, visitors to the site would be well advised to ensure they are fully protected by their caravan insurance in the event of any incident.

As well as helping to cover damages caused by accident or fire, insurance policies can help soften the blow if owners fall victim to thieves.

Indeed, police in Hull are currently on the hunt for criminals who stole a caravan from outside a house in the region.

A gang of up to eight men were involved in the incident, according to the Hull Daily Mail, with a pick-up truck used to tow away the mobile home.
