Thieves make off with flood family's caravan
A family who were left living in a caravan following flood damage to their home in Hull have been left heartbroken after thieves made off with their mobile home.
Janet Tasker and her family had been living in the caravan for five months following last year's floods.
The vehicle contained a host of their possessions, including £500 in savings and a pet hamster, as well as house keys and car keys.
"I'm not actually bothered about the possessions because you can replace them but you can't replace the family pet and other personal possessions," Mrs Tasker told the BBC.
More than six men are believed to have been involved in the theft, using a black 4x4 pick-up truck to tow the mobile home away.
Mrs Tasker urged others living in temporary accommodation to up their security and make sure they are fully covered by their caravan insurance company to guard against similar incidents.
"Nothing is safe. If you have Christmas presents or valuables make sure everything is secure," she warned.
The incident follows an attempted theft at a caravan park in Lincolnshire, where a thief used a brick to smash the window of a mobile home parked on the site but was chased off by the occupant's pet dog.
