Uninsured driver destroys living room
A learner driver has been ordered to pay costs of £70 for causing up to £30,000 of damage when he crashed into a couple's house in an uninsured car.
Phil and Lesley Lasenby from Stevenage were away from home when Lysanda Madzinga ploughed into their living room wall, but their son alerted them to the destruction.
The Rover went straight through the room, leaving a large hole in the external wall, pulling off a radiator and damaging the television, sofa and carpet.
Appearing at Stevenage Magistrates' Court last week, Mr Madzinga was banned from driving for a year after also admitting to "having a few pints of beer", the Comet reported.
He pleaded guilty to drink driving and driving with neither insurance nor a full licence.
Although he had a full licence for driving in his native Zimbabwe, he was due to take his UK driving test this month.
Cheap home insurance is divided into buildings and contents insurance, covering damage to the basic structure of a house and personal possessions respectively.
It usually covers for unforeseen circumstances such as storm, flood and subsidence damage, as well as theft and vandalism.
Third party car insurance is a legal requirement in the UK, while comprehensive cheap car insurance will cover for accidents as well as fire and theft.
