Raid uncovers suspected stolen caravans
Three suspected stolen caravans have been discovered in a police raid on a travellers' site in Bolton this week.
Officers from Greater Manchester Police searched several mobile homes at the site, three of which they believe to have been unlawfully taken.
Four men were also arrested during the operation, which saw thousands of pounds worth of stolen goods seized - including two lorries and a substantial amount of cash.
The raid involved around 70 officers and was part of a police crackdown on burglary and vehicle crime in the area.
Neighbourhood Inspector Stuart Wrudd, based at Farnworth Police Station, said the action highlighted how seriously police were taking such offences.
"We are acutely aware that crimes such as burglary and car crime cause great distress to their victims and have a huge effect on people, causing them stress, anxiety and financial loss," he commented.
The arrests should act as a warning to others involved in this type of criminal activity that they would not go unnoticed or unpunished, he added.
This campaign highlights the importance to owners of making sure they are fully covered by their caravan insurance.
It follows an incident earlier this week in which a motorcyclist was hit by thieves towing a stolen caravan and dragged 800 yards after becoming trapped beneath it.
