Raid uncovers suspected stolen caravans

Older caravan insurance customers looking to take the stress out of their UK trips with a satellite navigation system want something that "works immediately out of the box", research suggests.

Sat navs have become a regular fixture in many cars across Britain, often proving particularly useful for those looking to hit the roads in search of caravan and camping sites across the region.

However, according to ABI research, the older generation do not want the hassle and complexity of having to download regular updates for their devices.

The survey found that a significantly higher percentage of younger owners were likely to download traffic information and map updates to their in-car navigation systems.

Meanwhile, the older age groups "try and stay away from any complexity", according to ABI Research director for telematics and navigation Dominique Bonte.

"They just want something that works immediately out of the box, without any further maintenance required," he said.

There was "a clear case" of the newest technology being adopted by the younger age groups, he added, with much of it proving "a little bit too complex" for older users.

According to a survey conducted by JD Power and Associates to help gauge trends and satisfaction among navigation system owners, the ability to automatically avoid traffic congestion was top of the list of desired features in future systems.
