New caravan given the female touch

Female caravan insurance customers could be keen to trade in their older models in favour of a new motorhome designed especially for women.

The Esprit H6870 model, created by prestige maker Dethleffs, was designed by caravan enthusiast Brigitte Kroner, the Glasgow Daily Record reports.

Seeking to add a feminine touch to the traditionally male-oriented vehicles, she worked with a team of seven other females to help develop the new mobile home.

Features include an expanded kitchen unit, as well as larger bathroom mirrors and a whole host of storage areas.

The vehicle - which is believed to be the first to have been designed exclusively by women - is available from all Dethleffs dealers at a starting price of £58,995.

Kathrin Straubinger, a spokeswoman for the firm, said she hoped the model would help to attract a new audience to the world of camping and caravanning.

"We understand no one has ever done this before, and this shows we are happy to listen to our customers and design a motorhome they want," she added.

Those who do plump for the new caravan will be reminded to take out insurance on the vehicle, however, after arsonists caused £22,000 of damage to a mobile home in Longridge, according to the Longridge and Ribble Valley News and Advertiser.
