A12 hit by two van accidents

Two van accidents occurred simultaneously on a section of the A12 in Essex at the end of last week.

The road was temporarily closed, causing around two hours of congestion problems.

Nobody was killed, although both van drivers were taken to hospital, with two ambulances sent to the scene.

They only expected to be dealing with one accident on arriving, but later discovered there "were two that happened very close together", said operations manager, Richard Crow.

He told the East Anglian Daily Times: "One of them involved a white van that went up onto the barrier.

Paramedic Lynette Garstrang added: "The other accident happened when a van went into the back of another vehicle."

Both men were treated at the scene, placed on a spinal board and taken to nearby Broomfield Hospital.

Anyone using a van for their business should spend time comparing cheap van insurance deals for what is included.

Comprehensive cheap van insurance should cover medical costs in the event of an accident, as well as repairs to the vehicle.

However, cheaper van insurance may be secured if the number of drivers is restricted and a temporary replacement vehicle is not required.

Van drivers are also reminded never to leave their keys in the vehicle at any time.
