Caravan park could see longer seasons
Caravan insurance customers who are still looking to make the most of their vehicles throughout the winter months could pay a visit to a site in Hartlepool.
The owners of £500,000 Ashford Caravan Park have applied to extend its opening hours after experiencing a successful first few months, the Hartlepool Mail reports.
Having being granted permission to remain open between March and October upon its opening earlier this year, Mark and Andrea Ashton have now applied to Hartlepool Borough Council to stay open until January 31st.
After an "unbelievable first few months", during which the park was packed out with summer touring caravans, the couple are now keen to encourage more tourists to visit the area.
The park is also temporary home to a number of contractors who are currently working at a nearby power station, which has also helped to boost business.
Primarily, however, Mr Ashton said he hoped to focus on making it "a top quality, five-star touring caravan site" that could tempt many owners into a trip to Hartlepool in the coming months.
The family will also be investing a further £30,000 to help develop the site further, with the application to extend opening hours to be considered at the next planning committee meeting later this month.
This comes after plans were announced yesterday for a new £3.5 million leisure complex to be built at Fell End caravan park in Milnthorpe, according to the Morecambe News.
