Caravan band looking to hit the big time

A group of caravan insurance customers in the north west of England are seeking to hit the big time with their musical talents.

The Shabangs - a group of five Liverpool and Wirral youngsters whose average age amounts to just 17 - are currently residing in a small caravan in the area, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Despite having a packed line up of gigs at venues across the region, the band conducts rehearsals in and around the mobile home.

"We practice in the middle of the woods in a freezing cold garage, with a small 1960s-style caravan parked outside," said lead guitarist Chris Skeggs.

He told the paper: "We eat, sleep and drink in the caravan. The nearest shop is about a 20-minute walk, so we usually take turns on 1980s racing bicycles."

The teenagers - who are currently preparing for a number of upcoming gigs - list acts such as Bruce Springsteen, The Strokes and The Beatles as their top inspirations.

Despite their dreams of stardom, they will be reminded of the need to take out full caravan insurance on their vehicles after a mobile home in Halifax was stolen.

Two people have appeared in court in connection with the theft of the £13,000 caravan, which was taken from outside a house in Sowerby Bridge, according to the Evening Courier.
