Securitas van targeted in second raid

Criminals have broken into a Securitas van in Warrington, Cheshire, by ramming it with a tractor.

The crime comes less than a month after a Securitas depot in Kent was the scene of the largest cash robbery ever carried out on British soil.

The drivers were in the van when the gang attacked, but escaped uninjured and are to be interviewed today.

A number of boxes of money were stolen, amounting to "hundreds of thousands of pounds", according to Securitas spokesman, Carl Courtney.

He added that attacks on cash transit vans were becoming more common, with 836 incidents last year alone.

A lorry was used to stop the van from moving, while the tractor rammed the van in the rear to open the doors.

Two men then broke the van's windows, before setting it alight, Cheshire Constabulary said.

It was burned to the ground, with the only other remains being a pile of broken glass, some rubber and a broken headlight.

Police have also identified what they believe is the getaway car, abandoned no more than a mile from the scene of the crime.

Although nobody was injured in this attack, cheap van insurance should cover hospital fees and other medical costs for a van's driver and other passengers.

A cheap van insurance policy should also contain details and limits for payouts in the event of accidental damage, as well as theft and fire.
