New caravan park to offer 'quality tourism'
Caravan insurance customers who enjoy making the most of the natural environment may be pleased to hear of plans for a major new holiday complex.
Proposals for the park, which will be developed in Woodhall Spa, were given the go-ahead at an East Lindsey district council planning meeting, the Horncastle News reports.
The 77-pitch site will include angling lakes, wildlife ponds and log effect amenity blocks - as well as an existing badger sett - meaning it is likely to become a top destination for nature-lovers across the UK.
Councillors were convinced of the scheme's credentials, despite receiving over 60 letters of objection, with officials happy that it would blend in with the surrounding woodland.
It could include nest boxes be putting up to encourage owls and other birds, as well as effective management of existing trees and plantlife.
Despite the opposition, councillor Craig Leyland said the development represented "quality tourism" which would see a benefit for Woodhall's economy.
"The site is poor quality agricultural land, and the application has much to commend it," he added.
This comes after plans for another new caravan park, in Northumberland, were thrown out by planning inspectors over fears that it would generate too much traffic on narrow country roads near the site.
