Caravan destroyed by suspected arsonists
Residents in Torquay have told of the chaos caused by suspected arsonists who set a mobile home in the area alight.
Its owner is now facing a hefty claim on his caravan insurance as it is thought he lost all his possessions in the incident, and two cars were also affected by the incident, according to the Herald Express.
Neighbours rushed to move their vehicles away from the caravan as the blaze spread, but a BMW and Land Rover nearby both suffered from heat damage.
Graham Booth, who lives nearby, said: "The fire spread quickly. The caravan just went straight up. Someone told me to get my car out of there before it was damaged."
Two fire crews were needed to douse the flames, and police have since revealed that they are treating the incident as an act of arson.
Although the owner of the caravan was not home at the time of the fire, which happened on Tuesday evening, residents believe that all of his belongings were destroyed.
Earlier this month, another caravan-dweller was left without a home after his vehicle burned down as a result of a faulty electric heater.
Russell Rigby of Chivenor was only able to escape the blaze because he was woken by his pet dog, the North Devon Journal reports.
