Caravan gutted by fire

One mobile home owner has been left facing the prospect of a hefty claim on his caravan insurance policy after the vehicle was destroyed by fire.

According to the Western Telegraph, the blaze completely gutted the caravan, and a nearby residential property also suffered heat damage.

Two fire services arrived to douse the flames at Bethany House in Haverfordwest at 06.24 GMT on Friday.

The crew remained at the scene for more than two and a half hours as they fought to extinguish the blaze, and also cooled a nearby Calor gas tank.

Police were also called to the site of the blaze, although officers said that the fire is not being treated as suspicious.

It is believed to have been caused by a heater inside a reptile tank, which had toppled over and set fire to the caravan.

This comes after suspected arsonists in Torquay destroyed a mobile home and damaged two nearby cars as they initiated a huge fire.

Although the owner of the caravan was not in the vehicle at the time, he is believed to have lost all of his possessions in the blaze, according to the Herald Express.

Police confirmed that the fire was being treated as a deliberate act.
