Caravan park set to hit the big screen
A caravan park in Kent could be set to appear at cinemas across the country after being chosen for the setting of a new big-screen production.
Caravan insurance customers may be able to see the "tense, low-budget drama" at their local theatre, with writers hoping that the 90-minute feature will make it onto UK screens, according to the Herne Bay Times.
A 14-strong team from Original Standard Picture Productions descended on Waterways caravan park in Reculver as they spent three days shooting scenes for the film.
They also braved the bitter cold and rain to capture shots of the Herne Bay coast.
Telling the tale of a daughter's quest to uncover the truth behind her mother's death, the film is the creation of Oxford-based writer and director Matthew Dixon.
"It's my debut film so we'll be entering into festivals and see where we go from there," he said of the production.
The team stayed at the caravan park last week, and Mr Dixon was delighted with the location.
"We chose Reculver because it was close to London and had a really nice beach," he added.
The site may prove popular with caravan enthusiasts from across the UK next year, with VisitBritain claiming that more people will be looking to holiday closer to home in 2009 in order to help beat the recession.
