Hartlepool caravan engulfed in flames
The owners of a caravan in Hartlepool have had a narrow escape after their vehicle was engulfed in flames.
Firefighters were called out to deal with the blaze at 18:30 GMT on Wednesday December 17th and battled into the evening to extinguish the fire, according to the Hartlepool Mail.
The large static caravan was parked at Dene Mouth Caravan Park in Crimdon Dene, and required the use of two fire engines to help douse the flames.
Although the owners were lucky not to be caught in the blaze, having just left the vehicle, they are likely to face a hefty claim on their caravan insurance policy in order to cover the damage.
Neil Hartley, crew manager at Peterlee fire station, confirmed that the owners were not home at the time of the fire and revealed that investigators were still working to establish the source.
"It was a large static caravan that was well alight," he told the newspaper.
"The owners had just left. The cause is unknown at this stage."
Last week, fire services were also called out to a caravan fire in Haverfordwest, where a fallen reptile tank heater is believed to have set the vehicle alight, the Western Telegraph reports.
