Essex caravan stolen in overnight raid
A holidaymaker in Essex could be left facing a hefty claim on their caravan insurance this Christmas after thieves made off with the vehicle.
The mobile home had been pitched in a secure holiday park in Steeple, but crooks made light work of pinching it in an overnight raid, the Maldon Standard reports.
They cropped the padlock and cut through the chain at Steeple Bay holiday park in Canney Road, which had been closed for the evening.
Once inside, they removed the wheel locks from the 20-foot long, four-berth caravan, before towing it away using an unknown vehicle.
Southminster Police are appealing for any information in connection with the raid that may help them to recover the mobile home and bring the offenders to justice.
Police in Louth are also keen to hear from members of the public after a burglary was carried out at a caravan in the area last weekend.
The vehicle, which was parked in Lock Road, Alvingham, was broken into through a side window, according to the Louth Leader.
Thieves stole a laptop computer from the mobile home, and officers are keen to hear from anyone living in or passing through the town who saw any suspicious activity.
