Caravan owner thankful for local support
A mobile home owner in north Yorkshire has moved to thank friends and neighbours for their support after his vehicle was destroyed by fire.
Kevin Chambers, of Birkhall Road, Thorntree has been left facing a claim on his caravan insurance following an arson attack on New Year's Day.
According to the Gazette Live, the blaze started at around 03:00 GMT when Mr Chambers was welcoming in 2009 at a friend's house.
When he returned the next morning, he found only the blackened remains of the caravan - with all of the contents destroyed by the flames.
The fire also caused heat damage to Mr Chambers' house, with his family now forced to stay with friends until their home is repaired.
"Everybody has really pulled together on this to help us out, friends, neighbours, they've all rallied round. I want to say a big thank you to them all," he told the newspaper.
The incident is currently being investigated, with police on the lookout for those responsible for the attack.
This follows an incident in Staffordshire in which a static caravan was gutted by fire, which is believed to have been started by an old solid fuel burner that was being used inside the vehicle.
