Caravan club members enjoy celebrations
Members of the Avon Caravan Club travelled from all over the UK to ring in the new year at a rally at Chipping Sodbury school.
Travellers from South Gloucestershire, Wales and Weston-super-Mare joined caravanners from all over Bristol to attend the three-day event, which included a disco in the school hall, a comedienne and a night of cabaret entertainment, the Bristol Evening Post reports.
A total of 38 caravans and more than 100 people turned up for the event, according to the news source, including a couple from Westerleigh who have owned a total of five caravans since 1987.
"We carry our own five-star hotel with us," said Dave Scudamore, who travelled to the event with his wife Bron.
He added: "When you go away and go to a hotel you don't know what you are getting but we know exactly what we're getting with a caravan."
Caravan insurance customers who are keen to spend a festive holiday in their mobile home may also be inspired by a couple who celebrated Christmas in their caravan.
The Journal reports that Colin and Carol Towers of Morpeth enjoyed a "warm and quite comfortable" Christmas dinner in their caravan this year.
