Caravan holidays 'offer something to look forward to'

Caravanning holidays could help combat stress by giving people something to look forward to during the year.

Emma Newman of Keycamp claimed that it is important for UK workers to "break down the year" rather than seeing it as a whole.

The ideal way to do this is to schedule a holiday, which gives people something to look forward to and focus on when times get tough, she suggested.

"It certainly is something that everybody enjoys, everybody in the whole family can take part and once you are away on holiday you can totally forget about work," Ms Newman said.

With the credit crunch forcing many families across the UK to tighten their belts and cut back on holiday budgets, more people could stay closer to home next summer.

As a result, the number of people taking out caravan insurance before hitting the road in search of Britain's best tourism hotspots could be set to rise.

Eddy McKenzie-Blyth, director of Grantham Caravans, suggested last week that the industry was expecting a busy summer in 2009.

He claimed that fewer people will be going abroad, explaining that those who still want a break despite being on a tighter budget could find that caravan holidays provide the ideal solution.
