Push to boost UK tourism
Caravan insurance holders could be at the centre of a push to capitalise on the current state of the economy and help boost UK tourism.
According to the Economic Downturn and Domestic Tourism report released by the Tourism Trade last month, 70 per cent of Brits are "concerned" by the credit crunch.
Furthermore, many are having to revise their holiday plans for the forthcoming year as a result of increasing financial pressure, with overseas trips often too pricey.
But while this could spell bad news for consumers, Visit Britain is keen to use the opportunity to promote attractions a little closer to home.
"Promoting Britain at the moment is very timely because people are taking another look at holidaying at home," said Sian Brenchley, corporate communications manager for the organisation.
She claimed that camping and caravan enthusiasts could find a number of top locations to visit in the UK, with both cities and beachside resorts now offering improved quality at affordable prices.
"We're working very closely with the industry to provide best value offers at the moment so people can have really good value experiences," Ms Brenchley added.
According to self-catering operator Keycamp, Brits should still look to take a holiday despite the increased financial pressure as it can provide "something to look forward to".
