Caravan firm lands top award
Holidaymakers who plan to combat the credit crunch by investing in a new caravan may consider a trip to southern motorhome firm Romahome.
The company has landed the top UK motorhomes manufacturer award at a prestigious awards ceremony held at the Dorchester Hotel.
While other firms have faced difficult times in light of the current economic turmoil, Romahome has gone from strength to strength, even managing to expand production at Cowes.
And Andrew Jones, managing director of Southampton-based Freeborn Group, Romahome's parent company, revealed that existing caravan insurance holders had played a big part in the success.
"Some improvements result from talking to customers and incorporating their requests so in a way our customers have helped us win, and they deserve some of the credit and plenty of thanks," he explained.
The award was made by Motorcaravan Motorhome Monthly, with Strictly Come Dancing star John Sergeant handing out the prize.
Judges attributed Romahome's win to its ability to meet the needs of "widely differing markets" and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
One caravan firm which has struggled to adapt to the economic climate was forced to close last week, leaving 50 workers at the company without jobs.
