Nine new caravan sites for 2009

Caravan insurance customers will be able to choose from nine additional sites when planning their annual getaway this summer, it has been revealed.

The Caravan Club has announced that it is adding the parks to its existing network of more than 200, providing a total of 243,933 extra pitch nights per year for members.

This summer is expected to be a bumper year for caravan parks up and down the UK as credit-strapped Brits shun expensive trips abroad in favour of a more local holiday experience.

Nick Lomas, managing director at the Caravan Club, said the new sites will help to offer a more diverse selection of parks for those looking to holiday at home.

He expects the new sites, which include one ideally placed next to Shakespeare Country in Warwickshire and another in popular UK holiday resort Devon, to be a big hit with mobile home enthusiasts.

"The Club is committed to providing excellent products, services and sites to our ever-increasing membership and these new sites are sure to be very popular," Mr Lomas commented.

Officials across Britain's tourist industry are bracing themselves for one of the busiest summers in recent years as the weakening value of the pound and the effects of the credit crunch scupper the plans of holidaymakers who would usually venture abroad.
