Futuristic motorhome design unveiled

Caravan insurance holders looking to cut back on the cost of their holidays during the credit crunch could find the ideal solution in the form of a new space-age motorhome.

Able to hit a top speed of up to 90mph, the new Colim vehicle could help ease the financial impact of holidaying for consumers - as well as being kinder to the environment.

The futuristic vehicle - the concept of German designer Christian Susana - can be transformed into a small two-seater car, allowing tourists to leave the living quarters of the vehicle on the campsite while they sample the attractions of UK towns and cities.

This makes the vehicle more fuel-efficient than existing models, which is likely to boost its appeal in the current economic climate.

When in its full motorhome form, the vehicle has enough space to fit a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and seating area, allowing it to comfortably sleep a family of four.

Mr Susana is currently looking for help to put the vehicle into full-scale production and is certain the design will prove a hit with motorhome fans.

He told the Daily Mail: "The Colim bridges the gap between caravan and campervan and lifestyle and business."

The number of people taking caravan holidays in the future has already been tipped to rise, with more Brits looking to holiday on a budget as a result of the financial crisis.
