Jimmy Saville lands "dream" motorhome
British television personality Jimmy Saville wasted no time in taking out caravan insurance and heading off on holiday after landing his "all-singing, all-dancing dream vehicle".
The former presenter, best known for his BBC show Jim'll Fix It, has already hit one of the UK's most popular travel destinations after paying a visit to the Lake District.
He made the trip in his brand new Volkswagen California campervan, having taken delivery of the vehicle shortly before Christmas.
The latest in a line of campervans based on the Volkswagen Transporter, the California's versatility makes it a "go-anywhere multi-activity vehicle".
Buyers could therefore cater for their everyday transport needs at the same time as benefiting from a comfortable and spacious living experience.
The vehicle offers fresh onboard water and waste tanks and features two double beds, as well as a range of appliances including fridge, cooker and sink.
Its flexibility is likely to suit Mr Saville, who has already owned two Volkswagen campers over the years.
"I'm a wanderer, and always have been, so I love motorhomes and especially sleeping in them. Sometimes I get home, check my post, shower and still sleep in the campervan outside!" he said.
Mr Saville is not the first celebrity to express his fondness for the caravan lifestyle, with former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson revealing last year that she loved living in a mobile home while her house was being refurbished.
