Caravan site set for the go-ahead

Caravan insurance holders in one Lancashire village may be set to gain a touring caravan site if plans are approved by the council.

Part of Dale Hey Farm in Ribchester looks set to be transformed as plans for the site are recommended to be passed, the Lancashire Telegraph reports.

It is hoped that some of the available land will be used to make around 16 hard standings for caravans to park in, along with the creation of a workshop and a block of toilets.

The plans have met with mixed response amid concerns that such a site would create noise and potentially disrupt the fast-moving traffic.

Additionally, some residents and councillors have expressed the view that the site could be seen as an eyesore.

However, according to a report on the proposition, "the proposal represents an appropriate form of development and given its design, size and location would not result in visual detriment to the surrounding countryside, nor would its use have an adverse impact on highway safety".

Meanwhile, the Caravan Club recently announced that it is to add nine more sites to its tally of parks this year, meaning that holidaymakers will have greater choice when setting off in their motorhomes this summer.

The addition of the extra sites brings the total to over 200.
