Car theft almost amounts to kidnap
A car thief attempted to drive off in a vehicle with two children still inside, it has emerged.
The incident occurred on Friday evening in Droylsden, Greater Manchester, when Gail Simpson got out of her car to open the gates to Fairfield Square.
She turned around to see a man had climbed into the driving sear and was reversing away with her daughters still in the back seat. She said her first thought had been that one of her daughters had climbed into the driving seat and become stuck.
Mrs Simpson, 41, grabbed the car door and shouted for her children to jump out. She was dragged several metres by the car, before the children Grace, 10, and Charlotte, 13, eventually managed to escape.
However, the thief continued to drive the car, stopping at the corner to let another man into the vehicle.
The car was a blue Vauxhall Astra, and the police are currently looking for the thief: a slim, 19 to 24-year-old white man with a shaven head.
Cheap car insurance with a good level of cover can protect against theft and cover the cost of any hospital treatment required for injuries. Basic third party car insurance is essential to cover your own liability, but this does not include personal injury, fire or theft.
Comprehensive cheap care insurance is therefore advised, and drivers can shop around to find the car insurance company best equipped to meet their needs.
