Police hunt caravan crash driver
A motorhomer has been left shocked and with a potential dent in his caravan insurance premium after his vehicle was struck by a reckless driver.
Residents of the Grimsby of Laceby were disturbed when an Audi smashed through a two ft wall and into a caravan owned by John Squire, the Grimsby Telegraph reports.
The incident occurred shortly before 21:00 GMT last Friday and police are still hunting the driver, who fled along with his male passenger before officers got to the scene.
Local resident Dave Turner, 38, told the publication that the noise made by the crash gave himself and his partner a fright.
"My partner and I were watching Coronation Street and we heard a bang that shocked us," he commented.
"It shook the house and we thought it must have been a lorry."
The episode took place ahead of preparations for a national Neighbourhood Watch week, in which residents are urged to look out for each other's properties and vehicles to protect them from criminals.
Running from June 15th to 22nd, this year also sees the Neighbourhood Watch scheme celebrate its 20-year anniversary.
