Caravan owners left in the dark

Many caravan insurance policyholders may have been without light for almost two days after a cable fault at a site in Essex saw the motorhomers plunged into darkness.

The Essex Echo reports that up to 150 homes at the Kings Park Village site in Canvey were affected by the fault, which occurred last Saturday.

One 68-year-old resident told the publication that she and the other caravanners had been kept in the dark by the site's management.

"Nobody has told us anything whatsoever. We don't think it's good enough. We have had to get an aerial on top of the TV but the picture is terrible," the unnamed source added.

The publication reports that the broken cable is thought to be around 40 years old.

Site manager David Goldman told the Echo that many of the staff had come into the site to help over the weekend, cutting short their Valentine's meals.

Meanwhile, the Huddersfield Examiner recently reported that the village of Holmfirth was left in darkness when the electricity shut off between 09:00 GMT and 12:00 midnight GMT on Wednesday February 11th.
