Locals concerned about planned caravan site
Concerns have been raised about plans to build a new caravan site in Wycombe.
An application has been made for the erection a six-berth caravan park at an old shooting range in the small Leicestershire village, the Melton Times reports.
However, caravan insurance policyholders may be interested to read that local people feel that the site could be unsafe for such a development, as well as potentially attracting gypsies.
More than 100 letters of objection have been sent as Melton council weighs up the application, which includes the construction of a utility block and improved access to the site.
At a recent public meeting, Elizabeth Bryan, chairman of Scalford parish council, outlined concerns for the safety of the site, which has lead on the ground left over from its shooting range days.
She went on to say that Melton needs a specific traveller site.
"The farmers in the area are panicking. What the council should have is a traveller site somewhere in Melton borough. There isn't one and Charnwood doesn't have one either. A traveller site in a suitable location would solve the problem, but this isn't a suitable site."
The council will decide on the plans in the coming weeks.
