Credit crunch boosts Welsh caravan industry
The credit crunch is boosting the number of Britons travelling to Wales for a caravan holiday.
Pitton Cross Caravan and Camping Park has seen an increase in year-on-year bookings of almost 50 per cent as consumers tighten their belts, the South Wales Evening Post reports.
Site worker Tracey Button told the publication that people are beginning to feel the effects of the economic downturn.
"The strength of the euro against the pound is one of the reasons and the credit crunch is another," she explained as being the reasons behind the increase in bookings.
Ms Button added that consumers are travelling from all over the country to experience a Welsh caravan holiday.
According to the public, motorhome holidays are the most popular paid-for vacation in the UK, but residents might want to make sure they have adequate caravan insurance before embarking on a trip as Britain is still experiencing its coldest winter in a decade.
Earlier this month the Mirror reported that the recent freezing weather could cause an increase in potholes of up to 30 per cent.
Drivers towing their caravan this winter might therefore wish to ensure that they drive carefully to potentially avoid caravan insurance claims.
