Caravan flood couple sued by neighbours
A couple who moved into a caravan after their home was flooded are being sued by their neighbours for encroaching on their land.
Steve and Michelle Tyson may have had to invest in caravan insurance for their temporary abode after their Yorkshire property was substantially damaged in 2007.
Neighbours Micheal Burton and Sarah Jagger gave their permission for the boundary fence separating the gardens of the two houses to be removed so that the caravan could be erected while work was carried out on the properties.
But they have now lodged a claim for £4,830 in compensation after the motorhome encroached upon their land.
Mrs Tyson, aged 45, commented that the situation was unbelieveable.
"After the floods, everyone was in the same boat. I even made tea for Michael when he was having repairs done to his house," she said, adding: "It was hard for everyone but we got through it, for this to happen now feels horrible."
Miss Jagger said that the claim was against the couple's insurance company as opposed to the pair themselves.
Meanwhile, an unnamed neighbour said that similar claims may be brought should the case be successful, the Telegraph reports.
According to the Guardian, 1,400 households were still living in caravans last year following the 2007 floods.
