Motorhomers given security advice
Caravan insurance policyholders in Yarmouth might want to follow the advice of police and enhance their vehicle's security in the run-up to summer.
Officers in the district of Broadland are calling upon motorhome owners to be vigilant for opportunist thieves during the summer months and ensure that their caravans are secure.
Police in the area have suggested that owners take measures such as using locking wheel nuts and clamps, a good quality hitchlock and fitting a tracking device to the vehicle so that it can be traced in the event of theft.
Other steps that may help enhance security for caravan insurance policyholders include always closing doors, windows and roof lights, always lock the vehicle and store keys in a safe place and secure each corner of the vehicle with padlocks and short shackles that cannot be cut in the same way as a chain.
The publication suggests that people who see anyone behaving suspiciously around parked caravans - such as trying the doors - should contact police.
Meanwhile, Avon and Somerset Constabulary suggests that motorhome owners have an alarm fitted to their vehicle to increase security.
