Caravans set for increased popularity
The economic crisis could lead to an upturn in the popularity of caravans, an industry figure has claimed.
Peter Nevitt, who will run a new company formed to make caravans at a site in east Hull, was speaking to the Hull Daily Mail when he made the comments.
He said: "With the pound worth so much less abroad the holiday market is currently experiencing an increase in bookings in the UK as people look to take a break nearer to home."

Mr Nevitt added that he believed holiday home ownership would increase in the next few years and his company, Victory Leisure Homes, hoped to take advantage of that in the UK and beyond.
Victory Leisure was created when JR Rix and Sons bought the Cosalt Holiday Homes site from Endless, which had stopped production in a bid to cut reported losses of £750,000 per month.
The origins of Rix date back to the early 19th century but the company re-launched its brand in 2005.
In related caravan news, it was also reported today that caravan healthchecks are being carried out in Evesham.
It is hoped that the measures will promote safety concerns over the Easter period, reports the Evesham Journal.
