Caravan organisation outlines industry wishes
The National Caravan Council (NCC) has outlined a number of enhancements it would like to see take place in the industry.
Ahead of the forthcoming Budget announcement, the organisation has made a list of issues it would like to see addressed, in addition to the introduction of schemes such as a loan guarantee initiative to increase credit flow.
The council has also called for the implementation of a caravan scrapping scheme to provide £1,500 towards the cost of a new model, which may be good news for caravan insurance policyholders who would like to invest in a greener mobile home but are currently struggling to find the funds to do so.
According to the organisation, the government could help make caravan parks even more competitive by aligning the VAT on holiday accommodation with the European average, while a freeze on business regulation and increased assistance for small companies is also needed.
The NCC has also called for extra funding to allow for those in the caravan industry to receive the opportunity for 'bite-sized' learning, which it feels would help raise skill levels and would be particularly useful for the diverse training needs of a caravan park.
Earlier this month, the organisation met with business secretary Lord Mandelson to discuss government support for the UK caravan industry.
