Caravan site named holiday park of the year
Caravan insurance policyholders might be encouraged to take a break at the Hidden Valley holiday park near Ilfracombe in North Devon after the site received an impressive accolade.
The caravan site was named holiday park of the year at the recent Enjoy England Awards for Excellence ceremony for its commitment to green issues.
As well as offering luxury facilities, the park utilises eco-friendly methods in its day-to-day running, including a sustainable water treatment system and community recycling, the Western Morning News reports.
New features have recently been added to the site, such as premier pitches and a therapy room.
The region was particularly successful at the awards, with firms including the outdoor Minack Theatre in Cornwall and the Michelin-starred Gidleigh Park Hotel on Dartmoor also being recognised.
"All of these businesses have shown they offer a first-class tourism product in all areas of their business and they are now going to benefit from the national recognition, which they deserve," commented Malcolm Bell, director of South West Tourism.
Other companies to receive accolades included Seafield Caravan Park in Seahouses, which won a silver award at the ceremony, the Northumberland Gazette reports.
