New Lancashire caravan site given go-ahead
Caravan insurance policyholders may soon have an even greater choice of destinations as a new site in Lancashire gets the go-ahead.
The Longridge and Ribble Valley News reports that councillors in Ribble Valley have approved plans for the new park in Ribchester, which will provide 16 hard standings for touring caravans to use between March 1st and October 31st.
This is despite some objections being raised by Ribchester parish council that the site could present "an incongruous feature in a rural landscape" as the caravans will be visible from the roadside.
Among the plans is the creation of access roads and car parks, as well as the revamping of an existing workshop to turn it into a toilet block.
"The proposal represents an appropriate form of development and given its design, size and location would not result in visual detriment to the surrounding countryside, nor would its use have an adverse impact on highway safety," the publication reports planning officers as having said.
In related news, the Northumberland Gazette recently reported that planners had approved an extension of the Tindles Hill site to add another 21 caravan pitches to the existing 23 static caravans already at the park near Longhorsley.
