New device to enhance caravan security?
Caravan insurance policyholders may find their minds are put at ease by investing in a new security device, recently accredited by vehicle safety firm Thatcham.
Developed by SmarTrack, the new Alert24 Keyguard is a stolen vehicle tracking system, created specifically for use within the leisure vehicle industry.
The gadget has received accreditation from Thatcham, with the firm's kitemark considered a benchmark in relation to standards and quality of devices that help protect vehicle security - potentially also helping to ward off caravan insurance claims.
According to Thatcham's accreditation manager Dean Lander, the device is only the second of its kind to be used for caravans that has achieved the firm's quality accreditation status.
Managing director of SmarTrack James Mather commented: "It's time for the caravan and motorhome customer to have internet access to view their asset online at regular intervals; this will create increased product confidence and give real peace of mind in the winter months of asset storage."
In 2008, Thatcham received a Prince Michael International Road Safety Award for its commitment to promoting technologies that reduce accidents on the road.
