Caravanning popular in Derby
Highlighting the rising popularity of caravanning as a holiday option, a firm in Derbyshire has reported increased booking across its five holiday parks.
More Britons may be investing in caravan insurance to cover their stay-at-home breaks, as Don Amott Parks has told the Derby Telegraph that bookings rose by 45 per cent over the Easter period, compared with the same time last year.
The firm has also said that its Lincolnshire parks were fully booked during the recent bank holiday weekend.
"We had the busiest Easter for 12 years, with more families looking at what the UK has to offer," commented company chairman Don Amott.
The 60-year-old added that business was so busy that the parks' bars and restaurants nearly ran out of stock, going on to predict a booming summer season.
He put the increase in bookings down to a combination of the weak pound and the ongoing economic downturn.
According to a recent report from PricewaterhouseCoopers, caravan and camping holiday firms are bucking the doom and gloom trend by reporting good advance bookings, with Ocean Parcs's owner Pontin's stating that bookings are up significantly this year.
