Caravan owners warned of drinking water scare
Caravan insurance holders may be among those at mobile home parks in Wales recently urged to boil their drinking water following a bacteria find at a local reservoir.
Some 70,000 people were told to boil their water after the bacteria discovery was made at the Alwen reservoir on the Denbigh moors.
Parts of Denbighshire, Flintshire and Conwy have all been affected, with loud-hailer vans swooping the areas over the weekend to warn visitors to holiday and caravan parks of the scare.
The reservoir has since received the all-clear, with Wales Water promising to reimburse customers with £10 each to cover the period in which their water supply was affected.
Operations director at the firm Peter Perry apologised for the problem and said that disinfection for the water supply may cause a slight difference in taste for a short period.
"Protecting public health has to be, always, our top priority and having found a problem with water quality at our Alwen water treatment works, we judged the safest thing to do was to issue a precautionary boil water notice," he added.
The Daily Post reports that the plant is due for a £14 million cash injection in 2010.
