Leaky caravan setting is true to character
A comedy play set in a leaky caravan was true to character at Wick Assembly Rooms, as raindrops fell onto the actors' heads.
The John O'Groat Journal reports that the droplets were not a deliberate way of sticking to the play's storyline, but in fact came as a result of the building's roof needing maintenance, caravan insurance policyholders may be amused to read.
Last December, the civic centre hosted the Widows' Paradise, which is set in a holiday caravan.
The Wick Players noticed the rain on their heads during the performance and have called upon the Highland Council to fund an investment package to repair the leaky roof.
"I think we were tempted while on stage to throw in an ad-lib about getting a discount from the caravan owner," commented Jenny Szyfelbain, chairman of the Players' board.
Earlier this year, a caravan was used as the focal point for a play hosted in the mobile home in Sloane Square, London. Performances were given by the Look Left Look Right Theatre to illustrate the effects of the 2007 summer floods.
