New mobile home park planned for Chester

Chester is to get a new mobile home park, caravan insurance policyholders may be pleased to read.

Caravan owners thinking of travelling to the region could soon have greater choice of destination as planning permission has been granted for a new site in Tattenhall.

The Chester Chronicle reports that agricultural land at Manor Farm can now be used for other means and is set to house a 28-pitch touring vehicle park.

Some objections were made to the application, but correspondence to the council about the plans was in the main favourable.

Broxton council leader Mike Jones commented: "Only a few metres down the road we already have a caravan park, three hundred metres away we have the whole village of Gatesheath and I have not received any complaints."

Some objectors had suggested that the development could impact on the local road network, but Mr Jones added that any effects would be minimal.

Planning was approved by seven votes to one under the provision that caravans would not be occupied at the site for a full year.

Meanwhile, a holiday park near Selby is to receive a makeover that will include the introduction of new, modern caravans, the York Press recently reported.
