Stickers to help caravan owners in case of emergency
Written by John Mills, 30 May 2009
Caravan owners who travel to Lincolnshire may benefit from a police operation aimed at helping emergency services reach those on holiday sites more quickly.
The Louth Leader reports that officers will be handing out 50,000 stickers to parks in the east coast area to distribute among guests, which could potentially include caravan insurance policyholders.
Bearing the caravan park address and number, the A5-size stickers can be affixed to mobile home windows to make it easier for emergency services to find those who call from holiday home sites.
According to the publication, experience has shown that it can be difficult to locate people in emergencies from among all the caravans at parks.
The region houses thousands of holidaymakers every year and, according to a spokesman for Lincolnshire Police, has the "highest concentration of static caravans in Europe and is second only to Florida".
Some 50,000 of the stickers are set to be distributed among touring and static caravan owners and will be available to collect from Ingoldmells Police Station in the coming weeks.
Last July, officers in the area launched a crackdown on criminals who target caravans. The force also runs a caravan watch scheme, similar to those involving houses under the name neighbourhood watch.
