Three caravan parks in Scotland are to be leased out to generate investment.

Caravan insurance policyholders who travel to Angus could find themselves greeted by revamped facilities if bids are made for the three sites in the coming months.

The council cannot afford to plough enough investment cash into the parks, so they are set to be advertised for lease.

According to the Kirriemuir Herald, despite some opposition to the plans, they have been approved in principle.

Neighbourhood services convener Jim Millar responded to suggestions that the plans could see the sites turned into makeshift ghettos by saying that users may have their leases terminated if they do not adhere to the terms.

Among the sites being leased is Lochside Caravan Park, which is mainly used as a touring site and opens for 11 months of the year. The park is set to still be predominantly used for touring models.

Forfar Councillor Colin Brown recently commented that Lochside is a popular park and said he was pleased no static caravans would be used on the site.

"Our caravan sites are in dire need of investment and I think this is a sensible route to allow private investors bring Lochside caravan site back to its former glory," he added.

Humberside Leisure currently has a listing for a four-star touring/static caravan park for lease in Lincolnshire.
