A new code of conduct has been launched by the National Caravan Council (NCC) that is aimed at ensuring people with caravan insurance get a good deal on their new purchase.
People who have caravan insurance and are looking for a new caravan or motorhome will be given greater protection by the implementation of the code because it aims to ensure that the finance packages and other documentation they agree to are transparent and relatively easy to follow.
"We want to make sure that when someone buys a caravan holiday home, the processes and documentation between both parties is clear, transparent and fair in all ways," said Alicia Dunne, deputy director general at the NCC.
She continued: "Particularly in these credit crunch times, owning a caravan holiday home is a major investment for the consumer - for some, it is buying the holiday home of their dreams."
The code, which supports the new model purchase and licence agreement for buyers of caravans and motorhomes, has the backing of a number of the biggest names in the industry, including Bourne Leisure, Parkdean Holidays, Hoburne, Park Resorts and Bunn Leisure.
Earlier this year, the NCC revealed there has been a massive surge in the number of bookings at caravan parks for this summer.
The growth has been seen because more people are looking to enjoy a relatively cheap holiday at home during the recession rather than spending large amounts of money flying abroad.
