People with caravan insurance may have the opportunity to visit a new destination in the near future after planning approval was given for a new site in Cheshire.

Cheshire West and Chester council has announced the approval of plans to create 17 new caravan pitches at the Manor Farm site in Gatesheath, Tattenhall, the Chester Evening Leader reports.

An original objection to the plans lodged by the Highways Agency has been withdrawn by the organisation, paving the way for the scheme to be approved by the local authority and enabling more spaces to be created for people travelling to the area with their caravans.

Council leader Mike Jones supported the application, saying the impact on the road network would be "minimal", according to the newspaper.

He also allayed local fears about the noise created by the extra caravan insurance policyholders arriving in the area, pointing out that the area already has a caravan site nearby that has not caused any complaints from locals.

Meanwhile, people with caravan insurance looking for a new caravan should be aware that a new code of conduct for retailers has been brought into force by the National Caravan Council.

The organisation hopes the new documentation will help make it easier for people to buy a new caravan and create a more transparent process.
