Caravan holidays 'set to soar'

The number of people taking holidays in their caravans this year is set to increase substantially, with new figures showing bookings surging ahead of last year's figures.
The Daily Mirror reports that Haven Holidays has seen bookings jump by a massive 50 per cent this year, meaning those thinking of a caravanning holiday should book soon to avoid disappointment.
According to the caravan and camp site provider, bookings are rocketing as more people look to ways of cutting their costs this summer because of the recession.
Another reason for the rise in interest in caravan holidays is that experts believe 2009 could be a long hot summer, far better than recent years which have been washed out.
However, it is important that people who are planning to head off on a caravan holiday for the first time - or even just the first time for some years - ensure that they have adequate caravan insurance in place to prevent them being out-of-pocket in the event of an accident.
This weekend it was reported that the Norden Farm caravan park near Corfe Castle in Devon saw several caravans destroyed in a major blaze sparked when lightning struck an electrical pole on the site.
