A static caravan part provider has reported bumper online sales despite the economic downturn.

Asgard Secure Steel Storage, which provides outdoor solutions as well as static caravan parts, has seen interest in its products soar in recent months, the Bradford Telegraph reports.

The Yorkshire firm, which employs 80 staff, is looking to easily achieve its yearly targets and boost turnover by almost double.

Nick Hewitt, managing director of parent firm and office supplier Flexiform, said that income from the companies is set to rise from £1.6 million to £2.5 million during the year.

"There's also been a rise in demand from the static caravan sector as more people decide to have their holidays within the UK," he commented.

More Britons could be investing in caravan insurance policies this year as they increasingly opt to take breaks at home to beat the credit crunch.

The Mirror recently reported that Haven Holidays has seen a rise in caravan pitch bookings of 50 per cent this year.

Bookings could have increased as a result of the recession and predictions of a warm summer for 2009, coupled with the falling value of the pound against other currencies.
