The number of caravan insurance policyholders attending north-east Lincolnshire's Beachcomber Holiday Park could be set to increase.
According to the Grimsby Telegraph, the local council has approved plans for the site owned by Riverhead Commercial Services to rent out its static caravans during winter.
Only units in the north-west corner of the park will be let out as part of the extended opening season, in which the planning committee voted eight to three in favour.
A number of conditions have been outlined before the plans can be implemented, however, as the risk of flooding to occupants could rise if the caravans are used in the winter months.
These include the production of an emergency plan to be produced in the event of flooding, the installation of an emergency pedestrian access route west of the main gate and for a number of caravans to be excluded from the extended opening times because of the high probability of flooding.
Martin Varley, managing director of Riverhead Commercial Services, told the publication: "It will be a big boost to our customers because they will be able to get more benefit from the investment they have made in their caravans.
"And from our point of view, it's more revenue because people are there for longer. We have got the entertainment centre, which is open all year and we need people to be using it."
Recently, the Chester Evening Leader reported that plans to build a 28 touring vehicle caravan park in Tattenhall have been approved.
