A caravan retailer in Yorkshire is set to be saved from administration after being hit by the recession.
According to the Yorkshire Post, caravan retailer Discover Leisure is facing make-or-break negotiations over its future, but there is hope that it will not be forced into administration and will be able to continue trading.
Plans have been put forward that would see the company shrink its footprint in the area considerably, in an effort to cut costs.
It is hoped the initiative will be supported by the firm's unsecured creditors and chief executive Trevor Parker said he is "confident" the proposals will get the backing needed for the company to remain in operation.
Despite the recession, many caravan insurance companies and caravan retailers have seen a growth in demand over recent months, as more people look to holiday at home this year rather than jet off to foreign climes.
The Met Office has predicted this year will see a hot summer for the UK, which has further convinced Britons to consider taking out caravan insurance and spending a break in the UK rather than overseas.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail has reported that the new arrival of an iconic American caravan could result in a new era of caravanning chic in the UK. US manufacturer Airstream is launching its 'silver bullet' caravans in the UK for the first time this year.
