A fire in a caravan in Skegness caused several properties in the street to be evacuated over the weekend.

According to the Skegness Standard, a fire broke out in the caravan parked at the rear of the Scarbrough House Hotel on Saturday morning (June 13th) and the blaze was so fierce that a number of neighbouring properties were evacuated to keep residents safe.

No-one was in the caravan at the time of the incident, but the blaze highlights the importance of taking out caravan insurance to ensure owners are covered for loss caused by fire to their caravan.

Fire and police officers are still trying to determine the cause of the fire and have not ruled out arson, with police eager to speak to anyone near the area in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, earlier this month the importance of caravan insurance was underlined when a fire broke out on a caravan park, the Bournemouth Echo reported.

Several caravans were damaged or destroyed in the blaze at the Norden Farm caravan park near Corfe Castle, which was caused when a bolt of lightning struck an electricity pole connecting the caravans.

Caravan insurance can help holidaymakers to reduce the risk of being left short should their caravan be damaged by fire or other incidents.
